A less expensive recreational vehicle option is the Class C motorhome, sometimes referred to as a camper van or conversion van. Roomier than a Class B motorhome yet smaller than a Class A, these vehicles not only cost less but are far more fuel-efficient than bigger mobile homes.

- Class C motorhomes are distinguishable by their camper shell that extends over the cab of the RV, providing an additional bed or storage space.
- These RVs are often built on a Ford E350 or Chevy Express chassis with a length of up to 33 feet.
- Newer Super C Class campers are bigger and more powerful, being built on a truck chassis such as the International DuraStar Light, Ford F-550, or Freightliner M2. Most Class C motorhomes run on gasoline, although Mercedes-Benz has provided alternative chassis powered by diesel engines. Many Class C RVs include a slide-out for more interior space.
